Trolley View Cottage Description

Welcome to Trolley View Cottage
Step into a genuine piece of San Diego history — and experience Mission Beach from a truly one-of-a-kind vacation home.
Welcome to Trolley View Cottage, one of the most unique vacation rentals in San Diego and quite possibly one of the most storied addresses on Mission Boulevard.
This isn't a themed room or a novelty designed to look like a trolley. This is an actual 1900s trolley car that once carried passengers along the shores of Mission Bay. Today, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a charming and comfortable 2BR/1BA coastal retreat that sleeps up to four guests, while preserving many of the original details that make this home so special.
The original sliding doors still operate, the warm wooden interior reflects more than a century of history, and the original character of the trolley can be felt throughout the home. Then, head upstairs to the rooftop deck, where you'll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views of Mission Bay.
It's history, beach life, and a little bit of San Diego magic — all under one roof.

THE HISTORY
San Diego's electric streetcar system played an important role in shaping the city during the early 20th century, connecting downtown with the beaches and helping establish the coastal communities we know and love today.
When the streetcar system was retired in 1949, most of the old trolley cars were hauled to Mission Beach and burned. Fortunately, a select few survived and were given new lives as homes.
Trolley View Cottage is one of those survivors.
This historic trolley has been lovingly preserved and updated to provide modern vacation comforts while maintaining the original character and charm that make it a truly memorable place to stay.
You'll find history in the details — from the original sliding doors and woodwork to the unique layout and unmistakable character of the trolley itself.

THE LAYOUT
The ground floor welcomes you into the original footprint of the trolley car. The cozy living area provides a comfortable place to relax after a day at the beach, while the fully equipped kitchen features gas appliances for preparing meals during your stay.
Toward the rear of the home is the double bedroom, featuring built-in storage, original lighting, and windows overlooking the Mission Boulevard streetscape. It's a cozy and distinctive space that perfectly blends the home's historic character with modern vacation comfort.
Head upstairs to the queen bedroom, offering a comfortable and private place to unwind. The warm wooden interior continues throughout the upper level, creating a cozy atmosphere that makes this home feel unlike any other vacation rental.
But the real showstopper is one level higher.
Continue up the stairs and you'll reach the private rooftop deck, the crown jewel of Trolley View Cottage. With 360-degree views of Mission Bay, this is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, dine outdoors, fire up the propane BBQ, or gather together at the end of the day.
As the sun begins to set, grab a drink, head upstairs, and take in the views. This is where you'll want to spend your evenings — and where some of your favorite vacation memories are likely to be made.
For added convenience, the home also includes a one-car attached garage and an in-unit washer and dryer.

THE LOCATION
Located on Mission Boulevard near historic Venice Court, Trolley View Cottage puts you right in the heart of the Mission Beach experience.
The Pacific Ocean is just a short walk west, while Mission Bay is practically at your doorstep. Belmont Park, home to the iconic Giant Dipper roller coaster, along with restaurants, shops, and boardwalk entertainment, is just steps away.
Take a stroll along the beach, rent bikes and cruise the boardwalk, enjoy a day at Belmont Park, or head north toward Pacific Beach and Crystal Pier. La Jolla is also an easy drive away, while downtown San Diego and the airport are less than 20 minutes from the property.
From beach days and sunset walks to amusement park adventures and waterfront dining, you'll have easy access to everything that makes San Diego such a beloved coastal destination.
And at the end of the day, you don't simply return to a vacation rental.
You come home to a trolley car.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE
Trolley View Cottage is a historic property, and part of its charm comes from its unique original design.

A STAY YOU WON'T FORGET

Trolley View Cottage isn't just a place to stay — it's an experience you'll remember long after your vacation is over.
