Although the Petco Park Hodad’s offers a distinctly different vibe, the other locations are very similar to one another, offering sanctuary to surfers since 1969. The name Hodad’s is actually a term used to describe non-surfers who hang out at popular surfing beaches, pretending to be a surfer, and the humor that goes in to their name just proves they have never taken themselves too seriously. Walls adorned with personalized license plates from all over the state, old cars used as private booths, and a large variety of vibrantly colorful community tables work together to create a vibe that is whimsical and fun. The Petco Park Hodad’s, of course, offers ringside seats to our hometown major league baseball team, the San Diego Padres.
The Menu
There’s nothing fancy about Hodad’s menu, unless you consider a large variety of toppings fancy, that is. The burgers are out of this world divine, coming in classic flavors (hamburger, cheeseburgers, and bacon cheeseburgers) and offering unusual themes as well. The Guido Burger adds pastrami, Swiss cheese, and spicy brown mustard, while the Blue Jay is served with bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. Speaking of onions, the onion rings offered at Hodad’s serve as many as 6 people and will make your onion ring dreams come true.
