Cats aren’t the only creatures that worship the sun, and as you watch the San Diego Padres play the Arizona Diamondbacks on state of the art televisions, read through the Frommer’s San Diego Guide Book to determine what adventures you are going to enjoy next, or simply take a nap on that super soft sofa you have been eyeing since you walked in the door, your little Lulu may be curled up and napping in the beams of the sun shining in the sliding glass doors.

I rented one of their properties in Ocean Beach, San Diego. My review for the house is below. Working with Penny Realty was also a breeze, they were very responsive and there were no issues. Loved this beach house! I came with my family and it was perfect. There is a ground floor bedroom with walk-in shower that is good for any older people, and suited my 94 year old grandma very well. The other bedrooms are upstairs. The main dining area, living area and downstairs patio has direct views of the sand and waves. We were worried that grandma wouldn't be able to see the waves from the patio because of how broad the beach was, but you are able to see crashing waves so that was great. It is very easy to spend time on the patio and it is pretty spacious, easily fit all 6 of us staying there. There are two TV/living areas in case one part of the house is going to bed earlier than the other. The kitchen was very functional, but if you need things like tin foil and baggies you should bring your own. The beach out front is great, with direct sand access from the patio. When we were there there was a rip current on the beach directly in front of us, but the lifeguards recommended just moving one lifeguard station up. There are about 10 bonfire rings on the beach just in front of and slightly north of the house. We went during grunion run season (pretty prolonged march-august) and there was an amazing turn out on night 3 of the run just to the south of us, between the stone break and the pier, but almost nothing on night 4! Overall, a nice cozy beach house. Not super modern or gonna wow you with style, but definitely clean, put together, thoughtful furniture, and well done.

Dachshunds in the Dining Rooms

Your little Wanda will feel right at home in our spacious dining rooms, wandering around under the table hoping for snacks as her humans play, eat, and chat late into the night. She is such a good girl, we think that a little piece of cheese would be a perfect reward, so be sure to keep the refrigerator fully stocked. It would be such a shame for her to go without, don’t you think?

Koolie’s in the Kitchen

If you do happen to have a Koolie, a breed we just learned about today and one that is known for being herding dogs, just know that our fully equipped kitchens offer plenty of cabinet space in which to store little Kevin’s kibble, and there will always be the perfect spot to set his food and water bowls so it will be easily accessible and not in the way when you are cooking.

Beagles in the Bedrooms

Snoopy, the most famous beagle of all, was known for his elevated tastes, and we believe that he would have moved out of his doghouse and into the comfortable and luxurious bedrooms of our pet friendly homes. Offering a quiet serenity, the most comfortable beds in the state, and the ideal spot for your own beautiful beagle to sleep and dream, all will be peaceful as man and pet sleep happily through the night.

Frolicking at the Beach with Your Frenchie

Many of our pet friendly retreats are also beachfront ones, and because San Diego offers two designated exercise areas for your pooch where they can frolic freely while not on the leash, choosing one of our Mission Bay homes may be the right choice for you. The aptly named Dog Beach is one of those two pet zones (the other is on Fiesta Island) allowing you, your pup, and a host of other water loving dogs to experience a day at the beach that will never be forgotten.

All of our pet friendly properties will provide either fenced-in backyards or close areas for walking your sweet fur baby, but isn’t it wonderful to know that they have more space to roam so close to your retreat?

Are all sizes and breeds of dogs generally allowed in pet-friendly rentals, or are there restrictions?

While many properties are happy to welcome pets, some may have limitations on size (e.g., under 25 lbs) or certain breed restrictions due to insurance policies or property specifics. It's always crucial to disclose your pet's breed and weight during the inquiry or booking process so we can match you with the perfect, most suitable rental.
Besides the main Dog Beach, are there other parks or areas nearby where my dog can run off-leash?

San Diego is very dog-friendly! Beyond the famous Ocean Beach Dog Beach, Fiesta Island in Mission Bay offers large off-leash areas for dogs to run and play in a calmer bay environment. There are also numerous designated off-leash dog parks throughout San Diego, like Dusty Rhodes Park near Ocean Beach, which are great for burning off energy.
What happens if my pet causes damage to the rental property?

We understand accidents can happen! The non-refundable pet fee typically covers minor wear and tear. For more significant damages, our standard rental agreement and any security deposit or damage waiver in place would apply. It's important to report any damage immediately so it can be addressed promptly.
