Mt. Soledad
A prominent icon in San Diego, Mt. Soledad rises 823 feet above the communities of La Jolla and Pacific Beach. The surrounding areas are very desirable spots for locals and visitors. This residential area of Mt. Soledad is close enough for visitors and residents to enjoy the town of La Jolla and the shores of Pacific Beach, but far enough away that you can generally get a nice rental for a decent price. Enjoy numerous hikes, bike rides, and walks around the famous area, and check out some of the nearby attractions during your stay!
Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial: Atop Mt. Soledad is the iconic and sometimes controversial cross, which announces the Veterans Memorial. Six walls hold over 3,000 plates honoring veterans of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. It was originally dedicated in 1952 as a memorial for veterans of the Korean War, but has since grown to incorporate WWII vets, and many others.
La Jolla Country Club: A quick 5-minute drive will take you to the La Jolla Country Club and a nice round of golf. This is a beautiful and scenic course, with sweeping greens and a play time of four hours and five minutes.
Kate Sessions Park: One of the few remaining public areas that allows you to drink in the open air, Kate Sessions Park is a very popular location for family reunions, barbeques, weddings, and parties. With San Diego’s famously beautiful weather, you can enjoy this park any time of the year. Bring a Frisbee and your friends, and you’ve got a day of perfection at Kate Sessions.
De Anza Cove: About a 5 to 10-minute drive south, the northern side of Mission bay offers a popular spot for family gatherings, birthday parties, picnics, barbeques, and reunions. They have grills and some open fire pits provided, as well as easy access to swimming in the Bay. You can bring the family for a day in the sun, or just explore the paths along Mission Bay that are used by bikers, skaters, and runners.

Beaches: Mt. Soledad is a 5 to 10 minute drive to La Jolla beaches, about 10 minutes from Pacific Beach, and about 10 minutes north of Mission Bay beaches and parks.
SeaWorld San Diego: Located an easy 2 minute drive South of Crown Point.
San Diego International Airport: Approximately 20 minutes from the top of Mt. Soledad. If you have a rental in the surrounding area, it is only a 10-15 minute drive.
Historic Gas Lamp District and Downtown San Diego: The center of downtown is an easy 20-minute drive either on the freeway or along the harbor.
Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo: About a 20-minute drive from Mount Soledad. Follow signs for the 5 South.
Old Town San Diego: Less than ten minutes away, the Historic area of Old Town San Diego is easily accessible and loaded with culture.
