Centrally located, this neighborhood offers easy access to attractions such as the Wild Animal Park, famed San Diego Zoo, Historic Gaslamp Quarter, and beautiful beaches. The hodgepodge of cultures that intersects in San Diego branch off into different neighborhoods, and Clairemont has adopted the majority of the Asian, specifically Korean, culture, with a number of restaurants, businesses, and markets.
A unique suburb from the beginning, Clairemont got its start as an alternative to the common grid system. Its initial design incorporated winding roads and alleys with scenic views overlooking the Tecolote canyon and Mission Bay. Tecolote Canyon and Natural Park: Tecolote Canyon’s 6.5 miles of trails are excellent for walkers, joggers, runners, and mountain bikers. The canyon runs through the center of Clairemont, and is one of the only remaining areas of the suburb that is completely undeveloped. In the mid 70’s it was declared a park, which will protect it from development for many years to come.
Clairemont Town Square: Just off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd, this town square boasts a number of eateries such as Coldstone Creamery, and Quiznos subs, as well as chain business such as T.J. Maxx, Michael’s, and Burlington Coat Factory. If you’re visiting, or just new to the area, this is a great place to get started! You can also find the Pacific Theatres, CVS, and a Vons grocery store in the open, outdoor center.

Beaches: Clairemont is about 10-15 minutes from Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, and Pacific Beach.
SeaWorld San Diego: If you’re staying in Clairemont, you can reach SeaWorld and Shamoo’s west coast friends in 10 to 15 minutes.
